Rega Saturn MK3 CD Player and DAC

The new Saturn MK3 is in Rega’s very latest case designed to match the rest of the Rega range. Like all great CD players, it is thought out as two highly engineered products in one, a digital disc transport and a high-resolution DAC.

Up to 24 bit,192 kHz, the DAC offers two optical inputs, two coax inputs, a fully asynchronous USB, and an added ‘direct’ digital output from the CD playback section. This ensures the Saturn MK3 integrates perfectly into any system and provides the perfect partner for the forthcoming Rega Elicit MK5 integrated amplifier.

The DAC is based on a pair of Wolfson WM8742 chips. The CD transport uses Rega’s own high-capacity power supply which was a result of the R&D behind its reference CD player. Other optimizations include a high-stability master clock, high-performance PLL digital interface receiver, isolated digital inputs, and a sophisticated DAC power supply. Rega has worked hard to keep the CD signal path as short as possible.

Optimized USB

Computer streamer users benefit from a highly optimized USB input with asynchronous operation and the same galvanic isolation as used in the Rega DAC-R. The USB uses dedicated drivers in the computer, enabling full ASIO operation, thus eliminating signal degradation caused by generic Windows-based drivers. Download the driver here.
